Yana Kunitskaya picked up a huge win at this past Saturday’s UFC Vegas 19 event and now has her sights set on vengeance as she attempts to make her way up to the top of the bantamweight rankings.
Kunitskaya (14-5-0) fell short in her UFC debut back in 2018, losing to Cris Cyborg in a headlining PPV bout for the featherweight championship. Since that loss, the 31-year-old has moved down to bantamweight and has looked absolutely sensational, picking up victories over the likes of Marion Reneau, Lina Lansberg, Julija Stoliarenko and most recently Ketlen Vieira. In fact, the ‘Foxy’ one has gone 4-1 as a UFC bantamweight, with the sole loss coming by way of a third-round TKO to Aspen Ladd back in 2019.
During a recent post-fight interview with Sherdog, Kunitskaya spoke about how her “dream fight” would be to rematch Aspen Ladd and avenge her only UFC loss at 135-pounds.
“Every fight is important. I was not happy with my performance against Aspen. I feel I can do better than that. If I could get the rematch, that would be my dream fight. I want to prove I can beat anyone.” said during a recent chat with Sherdog.
Coming off a big win over Ketlen Vieira at last Saturday’s UFC Vegas 19 event, Kunitskaya is feeling on top of the world and says that ultimately she is willing to fight anyone.
“Every fight is important for me. Every fight feels like the biggest win. If you look at how high she was ranked, and before everyone thought she could be champion, I feel proud of myself,” she said.
“I feel like I’m physically and technically prepared for anyone, but I always have a mindset issue. I’m proud of me and my team for putting me in the right place. I feel so good that I won this fight in my head.” she continued.
