Unmissable: Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Tecia Torres Strawweight Bout

This Saturday, July 28th, the queen without a crown, Joanna Jedrzejczyk will take on number five women’s strawweight contender, Tecia Torres in a battle to see who will climb to the top.

Joanna, looking to regain her throne will have to be on top of her game if she plans on stopping the powerfully explosive, and always hungry Tiny Tornado, Tecia Torres.

Tecia “Tiny Tornado” Torres is a 28-year-old strawweight fighter Image result for joanna vs teciatraining in altitude in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She currently holds a record of 10-2 with 9 decision wins and 1 submission win.  She has an excellent cardio game, making her the type of fighter that can go the distance, keeping her opponents reeling while she runs circles around them.
While Torres may be the underdog, she has continually evolved as a fighter through her grueling work ethic, boasting a win over the current strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas, (who dethroned Jedrzejcyzk at UFC 223). “It’s not easy to get up every morning and do what we do,” Torres recently said during an interview on UFC’s Road to the Octagon,  “you have to really want it.”  This weekend Torres will have a chance to showcase just how bad she really wants it.
At 30-years-old, Joanna Jedrzejcyk has spent almost all of her UFC career as the reigning champion, unbeatable and untouchable by any contender.  Though she was not a part of the TUF competition in 2014, she quickly became a contender for the belt and made easy work of TUF champion, Carla Esparza.  Joanna went on to face a barrage of worthy opponents only to defend her belt not once, not twice but 5 times against the likes of Claudia Ghadelia, Karolina Kawolkiewicz, Jessica Andrade and other talented killers.

She called Torres a “good fighter” but said that “no one is as good as me.”  In the same interview with Road to the Octagon Joanna said, “Most people are surprised when they see me ride my bike to work…life isn’t about fancy cars…it’s about the simple things.”  Joanna simply wants to be the best.
There is no doubt that Joanna is the fighter to beat in order to continue on the road to the championship.  The question is: is Torres the one to beat her? Can the Tiny Tornado capitalize on Joanna’s two fight losing streak, or will Jedrzejcyk block the way and prove that she is worthy of another shot at the champion?  The main card begins on FOX at 8 p.m. ET.

  1. #TeamTiny — even though I don’t think she’ll do it, I think she can. And I really fuggin’ want her to, ‘cos Joanna Contender might just annoy me more than Trollby Covington does. At least with him we *know* it’s an act… 😓

  2. P.S. Article author, I appreciate it’s far from easy, but you spelled Joanna’s surname wrong almost every single time it appears… 🤓
