Undefeated wrestling specialist Tatiana Suarez is gearing up for a 2021 UFC return following over 18 months away from competition.
Suarez (8-0-0) has been battling ongoing neck issues and therefore has not been in action since June 2019 when she won a unanimous decision over Nina Ansaroff at the UFC 238 pay-per-view event. The 30-year-old, who notably won The Ultimate Fighter 23, owns dominant promotional victories over the likes of Alexa Grasso, Carla Esparza, Viviane Pereira and Amanda Cooper.
During a recent fan Q&A with Laura Sanko, UFC president Dana White revealed that “scary” Suarez is gearing up for a comeback.
“She hit me up the other day. Her neck is much better. She’s looking to come back soon. She’s scary.” he said.
Suarez, who has been compared to UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, confirmed the news during a recent chat with MMAJunkie and revealed she is looking at a Summer 2021 return.
“Yes, my team and I are thinking summer. At first I thought spring, but I want to make sure my neck will make it through a camp before committing to a fight. I tried to spar and my neck hurt after a few rounds so I cut the session. But, slowly but surely I’m introducing live training back in.” she said.
