The UFC has made a major new acquisition with the signing of LFA flyweight champion Gabriella Fernandes, per MMA Fighting.
Fernandes (8-1-0) captured the LFA flyweight championship this past September after submitting Karoline Martins in the second round at LFA 143. The 29-year-old trains out of the Kimura Team Jorjão in Brazil and has competed at both flyweight and bantamweight throughout her professional MMA career. Also known as ‘Gabi’, Fernandes has also taken part in some modeling work.
The highly-touted prospect is expected to compete in the UFC’s flyweight division, alongside the likes of Katlyn Chookagian, Alexa Grasso, Manon Fiorot, and the reigning champion Valentina Shevchenko.
A purple belt in jiu-jitsu, Fernandes is currently on a seven-fight winning streak and has finished four of those victories by way of knockouts and submissions.
