UFC looking to book Zhang Weili vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk strawweight title fight for March 7th PPV in Las Vegas

The UFC is looking to book a strawweight title fight between Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the UFC 248 pay-per-view event on March 7 in Las Vegas. The news was confirmed earlier today by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Weili (20-1-0) stunned the world this past August, knocking out Jessica Andrade in the very first-round of their UFC on ESPN+ 15 headlining encounter to claim the strawweight title. The 30-year-old owns additional promotional wins over Tecia Torres, Jessica Aguilar and Danielle Taylor. A win over a former dominant champion in Jedrzejczyk would cement Weili’s position as the new queen of the UFC strawweight division.

Jedrzejczyk (16-3-0) is coming off an impressive unanimous decision win over Michelle Waterson in the UFC on ESPN+ 19 main event this past October. The 32-year-old is considered by many to be the greatest UFC strawweight champion of all time, having defended the belt five times before losing it to Rose Namajunas in November 2017.
