UFC strawweight fighter Loopy Godinez is gearing up for a big change. She’s excited about switching her training full-time to Lobo Gym in Guadalajara, Mexico. Although Godinez has trained at this gym occasionally in the past, her primary training location used to be Titan MMA in Canada. Now, she will be training exclusively under Francisco Grasso at Lobo Gym.
Godinez believes this change is crucial for her career growth. In an interview with MMA Junkie, she said, “The fights are going to get harder, and we’ve been seeing the work that they’re doing, and I’ve actually worked with them in the past. We truly have chemistry with everyone from the team, the coach, so it’s the best thing for my career.”
At Lobo Gym, she will be training alongside UFC flyweight champion Alexa Grasso and UFC title challenger Irene Aldana. Godinez highly respects these fighters, and their presence at the gym was a major reason why she wanted to train there.
Godinez explained, “I had looked for them because I was a super fan of Alexa and Irene. I thought it would be super cool to train with them, and that’s how things worked out. We’ve built a really nice friendship, and now I’ll be in Lobo and part of that gym. I’m truly happy.”
Godinez is riding a wave of success, with a recent win over former Invicta FC champion Emily Ducote at UFC Vegas 73. This was her second win in a row and her fourth victory in her last five fights.
With her career on an upward trajectory, Godinez believes that joining the Lobo Gym team will bring her closer to her goal of becoming a UFC champion. She told MMA Junkie, “We’re seeing the results, and I think that team favors me a lot. I think we can do a lot together with the striking and wrestling and combining that. I think we can do incredible things. It’s all about improving as a fighter and athlete, and you have to sometimes make changes to keep growing.”
This move signifies a major step for Godinez and her professional MMA career. Lobo Gym is renowned for its excellent training regimen and a track record of rapid fighter improvement. The gym already boasts of UFC flyweight champion Alexa Grasso and Irene Aldana, who is set to challenge for the bantamweight title in June. With these successful figures as her training partners, Godinez’s decision to join Lobo Gym may well place her as the strawweight division’s rising hope. The anticipation builds as the MMA community eagerly watches Godinez’s progress and potential ascension in the ranks.
