Sarah Kaufman volunteers to fill in for Andrea Lee against Kalindra Faria

Former Strikeforce bantamweight champion and UFC bantamweight contender, Sarah Kaufman, has caught wind of Andrea Lee’s UFC 216 removal— and she’s more than willing to step in on short notice.Lee was set to face Faria at 125 pounds before she was pulled from the card due to USADA testing pool complications.

Kaufman, who holds a professional record of 18-4, 1 NC, told the UFC and fight fans via Twitter that she would be able to fill in for Lee on next weekend’s card against Faria at 135 pounds.

Thought the bout was originally scheduled for 125 pounds, Kaufman reveals that there were talks of her facing Faria at 135 pounds in December of this year already.

  1. When I saw the headlines, I wondered how Sarah was going to make 125 that quickly, but yes, that would be a good fight at 135. Actually, at 5’5″, Sarah is a pretty small BW, and I was rather surprised that she did not want to try out for TUF 26 and wonder whether she will eventually join the ranks of the BW’s dropping to 125. Hope they make this happen as it’ll be good to have her back in the UFC.

    1. I was always confused with the way Sarah and the UFC separated. She was a bantamweight staple for a long time. At one point I recall her attempting a move to 125, but I never saw any follow up on it.
