Rose Namajunas is the focus of a new UFC documentary movie titled ‘Thug Rose: Mixed Martial Artist’.

Rose Namajunas is a two-time UFC strawweight champion.

The film recently had its premiere at the Austin Film Fest and will be released globally this Wednesday, November 9, 2022, via UFC Fight Pass.

The documentary covers more than just Namajunas’ fighting career. The film discusses her family and their journey moving to the United States from Lithuania. It also delves into the loss of Namajunas’ father, who was diagnosed as a schizophrenic before leaving the family whilst she was young.

Namajunas also discusses the shocking sexual abuse she suffered as a child. During a recent chat with MMA Fighting, Namajunas spoke about why she felt now is the time to open up to the world about her horrific experiences.

I still am [confronting those demons], and I still have a lot of stuff to work out from where I come from. I know that it can help other people. It’s way more common than people would like to believe. If I can help some little kid or whatever that might be dealing with something like that, or even adults that dealt with that in their past, that makes it all the more worth it. You can be forgiven. You can move on from things and you can make a tragedy into something beautiful and do something positive with any of our suffering.” she said.

The ‘Thug’ feels proud of herself for opening up in the way she did and wants people to know it is okay to be vulnerable whilst still being tough.

It’s encouraging to know you can be honest. Obviously, I don’t want to be soft all the time, and there’s a time to be tough, but it’s OK to show emotion and to be yourself.” she explained.

Namajunas is a two-time UFC strawweight champion, defeating legends and future Hall of Famers Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili to begin both of her reigns. She lost the title to Carla Esparza last May by way of a split decision. Upon her return to the octagon, Namajunas now has her sights set on becoming a three-time UFC strawweight champion.

‘Thug Rose: Mixed Martial Artist’ will be released on UFC Fight Pass this Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
