PFL World Championship 2022 takes place on Friday, November 25, 2022, from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, United States.
A women’s lightweight championship fight will headline the card when two-time champ Kayla Harrison looks to defend her throne against knockout artist Larissa Pacheco. Both women have fought on two previous occasions, with Harrison winning each by unanimous decision.
Ahead of Friday’s event, three members of the WMMA Rankings Staff Team have made their predictions and analysis for the fight. Take a look below.
Kayla Harrison vs. Larissa Pacheco, lightweight title
Tonya: Kayla Harrison and Larissa Pacheco have had this dance twice before. Both times in 2019, and both ending in unanimous decision victories for Kayla Harrison. Pacheco has the power in her hands to put the lights out but needs to avoid being taken down at all costs and keep this fight standing. This year has been the year of KOs in the final hour, and it’s hard to beat a good fighter twice, let alone three times. Look for Larissa to come in guns a-blazin’ in this final PFL showdown and get the KO.
Winner: Larissa Pacheco
Nick: Should Kayla get her hand raised this Friday, she won’t get the credit she deserves for beating Pacheco considering the way their first two encounters went. All of the pressure is on Harrison in this fight and Larissa truly enters with nothing to lose. I honestly think Pacheco is a tall task for any fighter in any promotion right now. She is extremely dangerous— vastly experienced, has big knockout power, and has a first-degree BJJ black belt. Don’t be fooled, this is a very tough fight. With all of that considered, if there is anyone disciplined and confident enough to snap the five-fight first-round KO streak of Pacheco right now, it’s Kayla Harrison.
Winner: Kayla Harrison
Joseph: As we true fight fans all know, this is the classic grappler vs striker. Two-time Olympic gold medalist, Kayla Harrison is looking for a repeat performance of her 2019 three-round unanimous decision win. Larissa Pacheco on the other hand, with her recent 5 first-round KO/TKO finishes, is looking to make quick work of Harrison. Now, Pacheco does have a puncher’s chance, however, if I had to put my money on it I will have to go with Kayla Harrison just based on her continued dominance. Just have not seen enough groundwork from Larissa Pacheco to say confidently she will not get dominated in that area. It is an area that Kayla Harrison has mastered. Final predictions; history always repeats itself. Unanimous decision win for Kayla Harrison.
Winner: Kayla Harrison
The PFL World Championship 2022 main card will be aired live on ESPN+ pay-per-view from 8 pm ET.
