Cris Cyborg has revealed that WWE previously approached her for work before old rival Ronda Rousey put a stop to the plans.

Cyborg is the reigning Bellator featherweight champion.

Cyborg took part in a YouTube Q&A for Bellator on Friday. When a fan asked Cyborg if she has ever been approached by WWE, she revealed that she has but hinted that Ronda Rousey put a stop to the plans.

Yea but then Ronda got mad….” Cyborg wrote in reply to the fan.

Both women are longtime rivals. During Rousey’s prime, Cyborg had called for a fight against her on countless occasions. Rousey repeatedly accused her of doping, whilst Cyborg accused Ronda of looking for a way out of the fight.

Rousey retired from MMA competition following a December 2016 loss to Amanda Nunes. Since then she has found great success as part of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The ‘Rowdy’ one has performed at marquee events such as WrestleMania and has been given multiple championship runs.

Meanwhile, 37-year-old Cris Cyborg is still very much active in the world of combat sports. The Brazilian is the reigning Bellator featherweight champion. She also recently delved into the world of boxing, making her professional debut earlier this year with a victory.
