Marina Rodriguez headlines this Saturday’s UFC Vegas 64 event when she battles Amanda Lemos in a strawweight contest.

Rodriguez has the UFC strawweight title in her sights.

Rodriguez (16-1-2) is currently on an impressive four-fight win streak and has not lost since a split decision defeat to Carla Esparza back in July 2020. For the last year, fans have been clamoring to see Rodriguez get a title shot, and the Brazilian herself believes a win over Lemos this weekend will bring her it.

I’m very confident that if I defeat Amanda, no matter how, I’m going to be the next challenger. If everything goes perfectly I’m going to be there to see this fight.” she said during the UFC Vegas 64 media day.

Despite her confidence, the 35-year-old is full of respect for her opponent in Lemos and would not be surprised if their fight is awarded a $50k bonus.

I know she’s really tough. She’s got good victories – she’s got really good victories in the UFC. But we are both aggressive strikers, so I’m 100 percent confident that our fight has everything to be Fight of the Night.” she said.

Next week at UFC 281, Carla Esparza puts her strawweight title on the line against Zhang Weili. Rodriguez expects to be cage-side for the fight and is ready to take on the winner.

It looks like Weili [will win]. She’s well-rounded as a fighter, but it’s MMA. There’s a surprise effect in every fight, like when Carla defeated Rose. But for me, to be honest, it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is I’m going to be there. I’m going to be ready.” she explained.

UFC Vegas 64 takes place this Saturday November 5, 2022, from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
