Manager slams press & fans for their “cowardice” in attacking Priscila Cachoeira for UFC 269 eye gouge incident

Priscila Cachoeira’s manager believes everyone who attacked his client for the controversial UFC 269 eye gouge incident has displayed “cowardice”.

Cachoeira came under fire for UFC 269 eye gouge incident.

Cachoeira (10-4-0) suffered a first-round submission defeat to Robertson at last month’s UFC 269 event. During the end exchange in which Cachoeira was locked in the rear-naked choke, she was seen on two occasions attempting to gouge the eyes of Robertson. She was called out by the commentary team and hit by immediate social media backlash.

During a recent chat with Sherdog, Cachoeira’s manager Wallid Ismail, expressed how he was unhappy with the MMA media, as well as ‘everyone who attacked her’, for attacking his client.

“It was cowardice from the press and everyone who attacked her. She didn’t put her finger in the opponent’s eye on purpose. She just tried to push her away in the heat of the fight. People who work in the UFC come from the fighting business, they know what I mean. We are already talking about her next fight and Priscila will return to [the] win column.” he said.

Following the event, Cachoeira apologized, stating that the incident was completely unintentional. Meanwhile, Gillian Robertson has remained quiet and focused on her career, picking up another big win at the recent Fury Pro Grappling event.
