Lightweight world title fight between Jozette Cotton and Sarah Patterson is OFF!

The lightweight world title fight between “The #1 Headbusta” Jozette Cotton and Sarah “Primal” Patterson has officially been cancelled.

Mike Camp, the matchmaker for Gateway Fighting Series has released an official statement “Unfortunately the Sarah Patterson vs Jozette Cotton 155 lbs Title bout on January 28th Gateway Fighting Series in Sioux City, IA has been cancelled. Originally scheduled for December 10th it was postponed to January 28th as Sarah Patterson had a minor issue to clear up. Once that was resolved I attempted to issue contracts for the new date and was told by Jozette’s manager that they now required more show money than originally agreed upon. Jozette Cotton has been wonderfully amicable to me but I cannot work with her manager any further.

We previously reported that Cotton’s team were asking for more money and that the fight was in jeopardy. Several top ten lightweights including Brittney Elkin, Gabrielle Holloway, Andria Wawro, Charlene Donahue and Felicia Spencer have expressed interest in fighting for the belt.

No word yet on if the promotion will be looking for an immediate replacement to compete against Patterson on the January card. We will keep you updated.

What are your thoughts on this news, are you surprised? If the promotion does seek a replacement, who do you believe deserves the shot against Patterson for the belt? Let us know in the comments below.
