Kunlun Fight 9: Alesha Zappitella moves up two weight classes and wins flyweight title

Earlier this weekend, Alesha Zappitella defeated Yang Li Ying at Kunlun Fight MMA 9 to win the 125 pound flyweight title. Zappitella is a natural 105lb atomweight competitor who was invited by Kunlin Fight to fight for their 125 pound belt, the win is a big one for Zappitella.

Zappitella is now 2-0-0 in her young professional mixed martial arts career. She made an impressive pro debut back in October 2015 taking out Jayme Hinshaw. Her latest win is a notable one, winning a championship two divisions above her regular weight class, showing she is more than capable of competing with bigger women.

The 21-year-old also known as “Half Pint” trains out of Scorpion Fighting System along with UFC strawweight star and TUF 23 competitor, Amanda Bobby Cooper. One thing is for sure, whichever division Zappitella chooses to fight at next, she is a threat to anyone and one to watch this year!
