A pivotal flyweight fight takes place on the UFC Vegas 65 preliminary card when Jennifer Maia battles Maryna Moroz.
Maia (19-9-1) is currently ranked the number-eight female flyweight contender in the world. The 34-year-old owns victories over the likes of former title challengers Jessica Eye, Roxanne Modafferi, and Alexis Davis, but is currently stuck on a two-fight losing skid after dropping decisions to top-two ranked contenders Katlyn Chookagian and Manon Fiorot. The one-time UFC flyweight title challenger looks to show she is more than just a stepping stone by defending her ranking against a highly-touted but unranked prospect.
Moroz (11-3-0) has seen a career rejuvenation in recent years, going 3-0 since moving up to the flyweight division. The Ukrainian now looks to pick up her biggest win yet by taking out the number-eight contender and putting her name into the list of the top ten flyweight contenders in the world. Moroz has seen her stardom rocket this year after becoming the first UFC fighter in history to pose for Playboy.
UFC Vegas 65 takes place on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The preliminary card, featuring Maia vs Moroz, will be aired live on ESPN+ from 1 pm ET.
