Invicta FC 42 set for Sept. 17, headlined by atomweight title fight

On Monday, Invicta officially announced via press release that Invicta FC 42 is set for Sept. 17 and will be headlined by an atomweight title clash.

In the main event, Ashley “Smashley” Cummins (7-5) faces Alesha “Half-Pint” Zappitella for the vacant atomweight championship. In the night’s co-main event, former bantamweight title challenger Lisa Versoza (5-1) returns to take on Invicta veteran Raquel (Pa’aluhi) Canuto (6-6). Check out the rest of the card below!

Atomweight Main Event: Alesha Zappitella (7-2) vs. Ashley Cummins (7-5)
Bantamweight Co Main: Lisa Versoza (5-1) vs. Raquel Canuto (6-6)
Strawweight: Jessica Delboni (9-2) vs. Herica Tiburcio (11-4)
Flyweight: Victoria Leonardo (6-2) vs. Liz Tracy (5-3)
Bantamweight: Auttumn Norton (1-1) vs. Brittney Cloudy (2-2)
Flyweight: Jennifer Chieng (1-0) vs. Flore Hani (2-1)

  1. Looking really forward to the title fight and the return of former champ Herica Tiburcio. Was a little disappointed that at 4’11”, she wasn’t returning at AW, but after having recently given birth, I’m hoping that she drops back down eventually.

    1. yeah, JR I miss the Yuen by the way, ha ha , I was surprised that Herica, as short as she is, is moving up to 115 ! It’s sad if it’s because she realizes the only way to get to the UFC is at strawweight ! 🙁 UFC NEEDS ATOMWEIGHT NOW ! for so many reasons, including Esparza and Torres, and they could totally market Half Pint, if she can win this. She fits a few different boxes. At one time, I thought the UFC could have marketed Frey well at atomweight, but then she started losing when fighting outside Invicta, and the really controversial first win against the European woman whose name I forget.
