Number-six-ranked UFC bantamweight contender Yana Kunitskaya has responded to a recent call-out from Chelsea Chandler.
Kunitskaya (14-6-0) will be looking to return to the cage in early 2023 after giving birth to her daughter Alisa Santos this past May. Highly-touted prospect Chelsea Chandler recently expressed interest in taking the fight.
During a chat with WMMA Rankings on Sunday, Kunitskaya said she has no interest in fighting Chandler, at least not until she enters the top ten.
“I can’t see why I should put any attention to this [callout]. I would like to fight her after she enters the top ten rankings,” she said.
Upon her return to the cage, Kunitskaya says she is willing to fight anyone that is ranked at bantamweight other than Macy Chiasson. She explains that her recent opponents missed weight, and she doesn’t want to risk taking another fight against someone who she feels may miss the 135-pound mark.
“I would like to fight anyone from the rankings. The only fight that I don’t want is Macy [Chiasson] as she has had problems making the bantamweight limit recently. My last two opponents missed weight and I feel it’s not fair.” Kunitskaya said.
The ‘Foxy’ one is feeling a new sense of motivation since giving birth to her daughter in May. With notable wins over the likes of Ketlen Vieira, Marion Reneau, and Lina Lansberg – Kunitskaya has her eyes on the prize and believes fans will see the best version of her yet in 2023.
