Emily Ducote returns to the cage at the UFC Fight Night Orlando event on December 3 when she takes on Angela Hill.

Emily Ducote is the number-thirteen ranked UFC strawweight contender in the world.

Ducote (12-6-0) made her UFC debut in spectacular fashion this past July, defeating former world title challenger Jessica Penne by way of a rather dominant unanimous decision. The victory immediately put the highly-touted 28-year-old at number-thirteen in the UFC’s official strawweight contender rankings.

During a recent chat with WMMA Rankings, Ducote admitted that she was surprised about entering the UFC’s rankings after just one fight.

I am happy with my performance in my debut! I didn’t get to do everything that I wanted but I did what I needed to get the job done and I look forward to building off that in the future,” she explained.

I didn’t expect to be in the rankings after my first fight but I am excited to be where I am and I look forward to continuing my journey up the rankings one fight at a time.” she continued.

Ducote is a former Invicta FC strawweight champion.

Also known as ‘Gordinha’, Ducote had just captured the Invita FC strawweight championship before signing with the UFC. Before that, she enjoyed a stint in Bellator MMA.

I am thankful for my career experience, I think it definitely made me feel prepared for my debut in the UFC. Obviously, everything is on a much bigger scale in the UFC but I felt great going into my debut!” she said.

It really is an incredible division [here in the UFC]! I like to take everything one fight at a time. But I look forward to competing against the very best in the world.” she continued.

Ducote is looking to stay as active as possible now that she is in the UFC.

Ducote has no bad blood with upcoming opponent, the number-twelve-ranked Angela Hill. She sees it as an opportunity to further prove herself to the world against an opponent with more high-level experience.

I think Angela has a lot of experience against great opponents. She is a high-pace, high-volume fighter and I am really excited for the matchup!” she said.

With a victory over Hill to cap off 2022, Ducote hopes she can stay as active as possible next year and continue her rise up to the top

I hope to stay active and continue working hard to climb up the rankings.”

The UFC Fight Night Orlando, featuring Emily Ducote, takes place on December 12, 2022, from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, United States.
