Martina Jindrova has fired back at fellow PFL 2022 lightweight semi-finalist Olena Kolesnyk for saying she doesn’t deserve to be the alternate for this Friday’s championship showdown between Kayla Harrison & Larissa Pacheco.
Martina Jindrova earnt her PFL contract after defeating Jacqueline Cavalcanti by way of a decision at the PFL Challenger Series 3 event in March. She would go on to defeat UFC veteran Vanessa Melo via decision, as well as Zamzagul Fayzallanova by way of a first-round knockout, en route to the semi-finals. In her semi-final bout, she found herself victim of a first-round submission at the hands of Kayla Harrison.
The 31-year-old will serve as the official backup fighter for Friday’s PFL lightweight championship showdown between Kayla Harrison and Larissa Pacheco. However, fellow 2022 semi-finalist Olena Kolesnyk recently told WMMA Rankings that Jindrova is undeserving of this.
In a statement sent to WMMA Rankings, Jindrova fired back at Kolesnyk and made her case for why she deserves it more than her.
“I would like to say that my way to the semifinal was much harder than Olena’s because I had to win three fights while she only had two fights. I deserve it. According to the rules, I placed third because I had more points than Olena. Also, she almost lost her first fight against Abigal Montes, and my fights are more interesting for viewers.” she explained.
At Friday’s event, PFL will also be launching their women’s featherweight division when UFC veteran Aspen Ladd takes on former Bellator champ Julia Budd. The organization is widely tipped to host a full 145-pound featherweight season next year.
Jindrova indicated that she will officially be moving down to the 145 pound division for next year’s season and looks forward to competing in a “lighter weight class“.
PFL World Championship takes place on Friday, November 25, 2022, from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, United States. The main card, headlined by Kayla Harrison vs Larissa Pacheco, will be aired live on pay-per-view from 8 pm ET.
