UFC flyweight Casey O’Neill opened up about her plans for 2023 during a recent chat with WMMA Rankings.

O’Neill is ranked number-eleven in the UFC’s official flyweight contender rankings.

On Saturday night at UFC Vegas 65, number-eight-ranked flyweight contender Jennifer Maia picked up a unanimous decision win over Maryna Moroz. Before the fight, O’Neill expressed on Twitter that she would be interested in facing the winner.

During a chat with WMMA Rankings following the event, O’Neill reflected on Maia’s performance and revealed exactly why she wants to take her on next.

I thought it was a good fight, very competitive. I like the fight [against Maia] because I feel she’s another veteran who has fought a lot of the top girls in my division, so testing myself against her and taking that #8 spot would be awesome,” she said.

O’Neill (9-0-0) has gone 4-0 since signing with the UFC, picking up victories over the likes of Antonina Shevchenko and Roxanne Modafferi. She was scheduled to take on Jessica Eye at UFC 276 this past July but was forced to withdraw due to an ACL injury. Now on the road to recovery, the ‘King’ looks to make her comeback in early 2023 and is hoping to fight at least two or three times.

2023 I want to just make my comeback, and have two or three fights. I don’t care too much about moving too fast, as when I get to the top I want a lot of experience. So the goal is to just keep winning.” she explained.
