Dana White confident Peña vs. Nunes 2 will overtake Rousey vs. Holm as biggest fight in Women’s MMA history

UFC president Dana White has high hopes for the 2022 rematch between Julianna Peña and Amanda Nunes.

Julianna Peña defeated Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 to capture the UFC bantamweight championship.

Julianna Peña shocked the world at the recent UFC 269 event by submitting Amanda Nunes to capture the UFC bantamweight championship. A rematch is expected to take place at some point in 2022, and Dana White believes it will be the biggest women’s MMA fight in history, even surpassing the numbers of ‘UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm’ back in 2015.

The Peña rematch with Nunes will probably be the biggest women’s fight of all time. That rematch will be the biggest women’s fight of all time. (Right now) it’s Ronda Rousey and Holly. Every way that it could possibly beat it, it will. I don’t think it. I know it. It will crush that fight.” White said during a recent interview with ESPN.

‘UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm’ took place on November 14, 2015. With an attendance of 56,214, a total gate of $6,800,000, and a buyrate of 1,100,000 – it is by far the biggest UFC event in history which was headlined by women. It seems White believes Pena vs. Nunes 2 has what it takes to break these numbers.

No official date has been set as of yet for Julianna Peña vs. Amanda Nunes 2. Both women have stated that they want the rematch.
