As first reported by Combate, highly-touted prospect Dayana Silva is set to make her Bellator MMA debut on April 9th when she takes on the organization’s former featherweight champ, Julia Budd.
Silva (9-5-0) is an exciting prospect coming out of Brazil and is showcasing a rapidly improving MMA game fight-by-fight. The 30-year-old has found a huge amount of success with the Shooto Brasil promotion – competing at bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight, and most notably capturing the organization’s 135-pound championship.
The 30-year-old is a tough and gritty veteran who has already fought some of the best in the world. All of the Brazilian’s most recent losses come by way of split and majority decisions to top talent including UFC’s Jennifer Maia, PFL’s Mariana Morais, as well as Gisele Moreira on an episode of Dana White’s Contender Series.
Silva will be up against a very tough opponent when she takes on Julia Budd. The former champ is considered one of the greatest female featherweight fighters of all time and owns victories over a long list of notable names including Germaine de Randamie, Marloes Coenen, Arlene Blencowe and Charmaine Tweet.
Bellator 256 takes place on April 9, 2021, from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, United States.
