After experiencing her first professional MMA loss, Antonina Shevchenko has drawn other tough assignment in her next fight.
After winning her Octagon debut against Ji Yeon Kim at the TUF 28 Finale, Shevchenko (7-1) next fought against Women’s MMA pioneer Roxanne Modafferi, and suffered a split decision loss.
Her next opponent proves that the UFC is not handing her cupcake opponents. She is scheduled to face tough Czech fighter Lucie Pudilova at the upcoming UFC on ESPN 5 in August.
Pudilova (8-4) is coming off of two straight losses to quality competition in Irene Aldana and Liz Carmouche. The fight last September against Aldana was not only one of the best women’s MMA fights of last year, but one of the best overall MMA fights in 2018. In her UFC career, she also has a win over Kim and Sarah Moras, and lost an extremely controversial decision against Lina Lansberg.
It will be interesting to see how the careers of these two warriors intersect, and what happens afterwards.
