Amanda Ribas has issued a statement following an upset second-round TKO loss to Marina Rodriguez at the UFC 257 pay-per-view event.
Ribas (10-2-0) seemed dominant in the first-round, taking Rodriguez down and landing some ground-and-pound. However, things took a turn in the second after Rodriguez knocked Ribas down, with the latter being unable to recover.
Just over an hour since the loss and Ribas, who is known for her upbeat personality and positivity, has already issued a statement on the loss. The Brazilian took to her Instagram page to write a message to fans in Portuguese, take a look at the translation below.
“God always in command! Congratulations to @marinarodriguezmma and her team. THANK YOU MY TEAM! THANK YOU ☺️ BRIGADE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ARE WITH ME ❤️.” Ribas wrote.
Prior to the loss, Ribas was coming off a first-round submission win over Paige VanZant. The 27-year-old owns additional promotional victories over the likes of Mackenzie Dern, Randa Markos and Emily Whitmire.
UFC 257 took place on Saturday January 23, 2021, from the Etihad Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The main card, featuring Rodriguez vs. Ribas, was aired live on ESPN+ pay-per-view from 10pm ET.
