UFC bantamweight Ailin Perez took to her social media pages on Thursday to issue a series of verbal jabs against Norma Dumont.
Perez (7-2-0) took to Twitter on Thursday, calling out Dumont for being “obsessed” with her. She accuses Dumont of ducking a 145-pound featherweight title fight against Amanda Nunes and tells her to “lose weight” before calling out any of the bantamweights.
“Crazy how @NormaDumont5 is obsessed with me 😂 Lose weight or call out girls from your own weight class. You will never be champ calling out girls on losing streaks. You are #1 contender in Featherweight, worry about your own division and call out the champ! I think u are scared.” she said.
“FACT. @NormaDumont5 is scared of @Amanda_Leoa ! This is why she keeps begging to fight me 😭 #LoseWeightFirst.” she continued.
Perez made her UFC debut as a featherweight against Stephanie Egger at this past September’s Fight Night Paris event. Also known as ‘Fiona’, the Argentinian got fans talking during the ceremonial weigh-ins after twerking live on stage. The 28-year-old would go on to lose the bout by way of a second-round submission. Following the defeat, Perez and Dumont traded shots on social media.
Perez will return to 135-pounds on February 25 when she takes on Dana White’s Contender Series winner Hailey Cowan. The bout will take place at a UFC Fight Night event, with the location still to be officially announced.
Meanwhile, Norma Dumont has cemented her position as one of the top contenders at 145-pounds, picking up victories over the likes of Aspen Ladd, Felicia Spencer, and Danyelle Wolf. During a recent chat with WMMA Rankings, the Brazilian revealed that the UFC has ordered her to move down to the 135-pound bantamweight division. She believes the featherweight division will soon be closed.
