A look back at the time UFC Vegas 64 winner Polyana Viana brutally beat down a man who tried to rob her phone

Polyana Viana is the talk of the MMA world right now following a brutal 47-second knockout victory over Jinh Yu Frey at Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 64 event.

Polyana Viana picked up a huge victory at UFC Vegas 64.

Viana (13-5-0) got the job done in quick time on Saturday night, taking just 47-seconds to knock out former Invicta FC champ Jinh Yu Frey. Following the victory, the Brazilian announced plans to return to the subscription-based platform OnlyFans, much to the delight of her fanbase.

Newer fans of the UFC may be unaware that Viana went viral once before, almost four years ago. Back in January 2019, Viana made headlines after she delivered a vicious beatdown to a man who attempted to rob her.

Viana is alleged to have been standing on her own waiting for an Uber ride when a would-be criminal approached her. The man asked for her phone before reaching for a gun (which was later discovered to be fake) at which point Viana delivered the brutal beatdown.

When he saw I saw him, he sat next to me. He asked me the time, I said it, and I saw he wasn’t going to leave. So I already moved to put my cell phone in my waist. “And then he said, ‘Give me the phone. Don’t try to react, because I’m armed.’ Then he put his hand over [a gun], but I realized it was too soft. He was really close to me. So I thought ‘if it’s a gun, he won’t have time to draw it.’ So I stood up. I threw two punches and a kick. He fell, then I caught him in a rear-naked choke. Then I sat him down in the same place we were before and said ‘now we’ll wait for the police’.” she said of the incident during an interview back in 2019.

I was fine because he didn’t even react after. Since he took the punches very quickly, I think he was scared. So he didn’t react anymore. He told me to let him go, like ‘I just asked for the time.’ I said, ‘Asked for the time my ass,’ because he saw I was very angry. “I said I wouldn’t let go and that I was going to call the police. He said ‘call the police, then’, because he was scared I was going to beat him up more.” she continued.

The incident earned high praise for Viana from the entire MMA world, including UFC president Dana White. Since that day, no man has ever dared attempt to mess with the UFC strawweight again.

With her victory at UFC Vegas 64 on Saturday, Viana has now won three of her last four fights following previous first-round finishes over Mallory Martin and Emily Whitmire. Her most recent setback comes by way of a hard-fought decision loss to Tabatha Ricci.

UFC Vegas 64 took place on November 5, 2022, from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
