  1. Nick, can you start a thread where we can recommend to each other our favorite girl fights?
So that now, with MMA closed up for the foreseeable future, those of us can hop on youtube, fightpass or espn to watch them.
Upcoming fights might be off …. i am in horrors at the thought of no more WMMA…! so i’d love to share my favorites and scope the recommendations of others here.

    1. Excellent idea. Here are a few of mine. Some are great for their competitiveness, some due to an upset, others due to the speed of the finish and/or historical significance. I know I’m overlooking some great ones, so I look forward to input from others.

      Leslie Smith vs. Kaitlin Young
      Ilima-Lei Macfarlane vs. Emily Ducote
      Cat Zingano vs. Miesha Tate
      Gina Carano vs. Julie Kedzie
      Irene Aldana vs. Lucie Pudilova
      Michelle Waterson vs. Jessica Penne
      Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate
Angela Lee vs. Mei Yamaguchi I & II
Angela Lee vs. Xiong Jing Nan I & II
      Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano
Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Claudia Gadelha I & II
      Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Jessica Andrade
Amanda Nunes vs. Cris “Cyborg” Justino
Rose Namajunas vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk I & II
      Holly Holm vs. Ronda Rousey
      Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche
      Ronda Rousey vs. Alexa Davis
      Rose Namajunas vs. Jessica Andrade
      Jessica Andrade vs. Weili Zhang
      Julija Stoliarenko vs. Lisa Versoza
      Weili Zhang vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk

      1. Forgot to include Seo Hee Ham’s fights against Jinh Yu Frey, featuring an impressive finish, and Ayaka Hamasaki, another razor thin decision.

      2. I also think you need Joanna vs Karolina because it was the first time Joanna had ever been in trouble, really. She got wobbled a couple times, and Karolina was a freakin warrior back then ! I also think you need Joanna vs Letourneau. Also need Andrade vs Karolina because of the sheer brutality of that KO (I mean you never see a strawweight completely KO someone standing with a hook ! – INSANE ! ) , and for the same reason , probably include Shevchenko vs Eye. Also think you need Waterson vs Tiburcia because that was a big upset too (Tiburcia beating Waterson for the title ! ) , after Waterson upset Penne for the title (was considered an upset back then). And lastly, you also need Tate vs Marloes Coenen. That was definitely an upset at the time when Tate submitted the submission specialist Coenen who sometimes fought at featherweight, and it was for the Strikeforce title !

    2. Thats a great suggestion, Joolz! I will get working on that for sure. I see JR posted a list of some fights in the comments– a lot of those are on my favorites list as well. I’ll try to get that up sometime in the next few days!

    1. So far it looks like Eubanks-Moras is being targeted for May 13 and Dern-Cifers for May 23! Hopefully UFC confirms them fairly soon!

      1. Yes, they are confirmed, plus Cortney Casey vs Borella . Oh, you need Angela Hill vs Gadelha up there. That fight, I did not see coming. I think the hype will die down a good bit after that fight unless Gadelha really has regressed. Man, Dern better win that fight, or her hype will fizzle humongously ! Eubanks – Moras sadly feels like it is probably a Loser Leaves UFC match. Casey – Borella might even be a Loser Leaves UFC match.

        1. Got those up! Some solid fights. Casey-Borella and Moras-Eubanks are definitely must wins for each fighter. Hate to see anyone get cut but could def see it happening to the losing fighters of those two :/
