Zhang Weili will be moving her fight camp yet again, this time from Thailand to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Weili (20-1-0) issued an update via social media earlier today.
“Goodbye Thailand, and hello Abu Dhabi. Everyone is trying the best to make my title defence fight happen. I’m on the flight to Abu Dhabi now, though just acclimatized the climate and training in Thailand. We’re going to another country again. What a rush!” Weili wrote.
Last week, Weili and her team announced their intentions to leave China and finish their camp in Vegas due to the coronavirus outbreak. Earlier this week, they successfully left China, moving the fight camp to Bangkok, Thailand. The champ now travel to Abu Dhabi after it emerges that Thailand is the second-most affected city by the coronavirus. Her team are currently working on getting a visa in order to travel to Vegas.
Weili is scheduled to make the first defense of her UFC strawweight title at the UFC 248 event on March 7 when she takes on former queen of the division, Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The 30-year-old won the title after defeating Jessica Andrade via first-round knockout this past August.
‘UFC 248: Adesanya vs. Romero’ takes place on March 7, 2020, from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
