In a recent interview with the South China Morning Post, former WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair talked about Ronda Rousey’s reported transition to the WWE, and the possibility of MMA’s ‘Horsewomen’ vs WWE’s ‘Four Horsewomen’.
The MMA community and wrestling community alike have been buzzing as reports of former UFC bantamweight champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey coming to the WWE have made rounds on the internet. One person that has taken notice, is top WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair.
On Ronda Rousey entering the WWE:
I would tell her to get in line. [Laughs] Ronda wouldn’t be my dream opponent, but if WWE is something she would want to consider, I would defintiely want to be her first competitor.
Four of WWE’s most popular wrestlers– Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Bayley– dubbed themselves the “Four Horsewomen” years ago in WWE NXT. MMA’s own self-proclaimed “Four Horsewomen”– Ronda Rousey, Mae Young Classic finalist participant Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir– may find themselves involved with WWE sometime down the road.
On the MMA ‘Four Horsewomen’ vs the WWE ‘Four Horsewomen’:
We’re the real Four Horsewomen– I have the lineage! I think it’s great, with us being a sports entertainment company, being able to highlight crossover performers is exciting. Honestly, it just draws more attention to the women as a whole. Anything that shines positive light on women’s wrestling, and how popular it is today, is great.
