WMMA pioneer Ronda Rousey challenges for RAW women’s title in featured bout of tonight’s marquee WWE Summerslam event

WMMA pioneer Ronda Rousey competes in her biggest professional wrestling match to date when she challenges Alexa Bliss for the RAW women’s title in a featured bout of tonight’s WWE Summerslam pay-per-view event.

Will Rousey win her first major professional wrestling title at tonight’s Summerslam event?

Rousey, a UFC Hall of Famer and former bantamweight champion, made her professional wrestling debut this past January and has already risen to the top. Signing with the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), the top pro-wrestling organization in the world, Rousey’s matches have been met with rave reviews from critics and tonight will give her the opportunity to make history by becoming the first woman to have held a major title in the top pro-wrestling and MMA organizations in the world, the UFC and the WWE.

As well as performing as a professional wrestler, Rousey has also been taking the acting world by storm and is starring in ‘Mile 22’ which opened in theatres this past Friday. The 31-year-old admitted during a recent interview that she was worried when first given the role, but explained that director Peter Berg helped encourage her and show that she was more than just a fighter.

Professional wrestling is a form of performance art which combines athletics with theatrical performance. The matches have predetermined outcomes to heighten entertainment value and all combative maneuvers are executed with the full cooperation of those involved and carefully performed in specific manners intended to lessen the chance of actual injury. These facts were once kept highly secretive, but are now a widely accepted open secret.
