AFC welterweight contender Maura Tynanes has opened up about the recent false missile alert which was sent to residents of Hawaii.
Earlier this week, an emergency alert was issued to residents of Hawaii which read the following:
“BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”
Tynanes (1-0), a Hawaiian who trains at the Jesus Is Lord gym along with UFC star Rachael Ostovich, recently took to her Instagram page to discuss the thoughts that went through her head upon the devastating announcement.
“Honestly all I could think of was to pray. I actually went in the bathroom of my work, got on my knees and started to pray to god; to give me strength to be a leader during this crisis, to be fearless, to be strong for others and that if the missile was to hit Hawaii, don’t let our lives be lost in vein. I’m not scared of dying because I know where I’m going to go. I had ZERO regrets, it’s a crazy feeling thinking your about to die; but I honestly know every day I live for Jesus and do my best every day to be the person I believe he wants me to be. I know this was a wake up all to a lot of people, kind of a blessing. Even though this morning was scary for a lot of us, and everyone is thankful to be alive and it was a false alarm. But WE SHOULD ALL BE THANKFUL EVERY DAY! #godIsGood #wakeUp #getYourLifeRight”
Tynanes is scheduled to make her second MMA appearance at the upcoming AFC 136 event when she battles Holli Salazar. The event takes place this Wednesday January 17 from the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage, Alaska. The entire card will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass.
