A women’s strawweight fight opens the main card of this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 140 event when Cynthia Calvillo takes on Poliana Botelho.
Calvillo (6-1) fights for the first time in almost a year after facing a nine-month suspension from USADA for testing positive for Marijuana. The 31-year-old owns notable promotional wins over Joanne Calderwood, Pearl Gonzalez and Amanda Cooper. The Team Alpha Male standout was just as impressive prior to joining the UFC, with a victory over Montana De La Rosa and an amateur win over Aspen Ladd.
Botelho (7-1) is one of the most highly-touted rising prospects in the strawweight division. The 29-year-old is on a five-fight win streak and is undefeated in the UFC, as well as fights contested at 115-pounds. In her last showing, it took the powerful Brazilian just 33 seconds to knock out Syuro Kondo.
Ahead of Saturday’s event, Calvillo and Botelho faced off for the last time at the UFC Fight Night 140 Ceremonial weigh-ins. Take a look in the video below.
