Veronika Futina hopes Gabi Garcia’s upcoming RIZIN opponent “will not be a grandmother”, wants to avenge 2018 loss

Veronika Futina has revealed that she wants a rematch against RIZIN heavyweight and multiple-time BJJ world champion, Gabi Garcia.

Earlier this month, Garcia (6-0, 1 NC) hinted that she’ll be fighting for RIZIN in the very near future. Futina recently caught wind of Garcia’s comments and poked fun at her former foe, whilst also requesting a rematch.

Hey Gabi , we heard you were gonna fight on Rizin FF. We hope this fight will not be with grandmother! Veronika Futina is ready to fight with you again. Let’s do it!.” Futina said.

Futina (0-1) fought Garcia at the ROAD FC 47 event in May 2018, losing by way of a first-round rear-naked choke submission. The 31-year-old trains at the Gladiator Fight Team along with fellow heavyweight competitors and former Gabi Garcia opponents, Anna Maliukova and Oxana Gagloeva. According to the Gladiator Fight Team, Futina is a 2-time world champion in hand-to-hand fighting, four-time champion in Russian hand-to-hand fighting, two-time European champion in hand-to-hand fighting and one-time champion in Russian Judo.

  1. What would change? Gabi Garcia would just bulldozed forward with no technique because bulldozing forward would be the technique and grab her and from there the fight would be over.

    1. They were pretty competitive in the stand-up despite Gabi weighing 44 pounds more than Veronika. She’s also gone the second longest against Gabi to date. I’ve heard Gabi has cut weight since then, but for all I know, she may have added it back on. If Veronika’s added more muscle and take down defense, I could see her coming out w/a win or at least a more competitive fight.

  2. And Gabi Garcia still bulldozed straight forward, grab her, took her to the ground and ended the fight in the 1st Round. What would change?
