Valerie Letourneau set to make Bellator debut in December

“Trouble” will be coming to Bellator mid-December.

Former strawweight title challenger, Valerie Letourneau, has been rescheduled to make her Bellator MMA debut.

The Canadian, who found a home in Bellator’s flyweight division before the UFC created one, was supposed to make her debut against Emily Ducote back in July. However, just four days before the bout, Letourneau was forced to withdrawal due to injury.

At this time no opponent has been announced. The show takes place in Newcastle, England, on December 15th.

Letourneau has faced a whos-who in MMA— her resume includes fights with Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Claudia Gadelha, Alexis Davis, Sarah Kaufman, Maryna Moroz, and many more.

Are you excited for “Trouble’s” debut?

  1. Excited? No. Mildly curious? Yes. At 34, it appears that she’s in the twilight of her career. She’s lost 3 straight, one admittedly against JJ, but she was defeated by Viviane Pereira, who at 5’0″ or 5’1 (depending on your source) should be fighting at atomweight (as should a number of UFC’s SW’s). At 5’7″, not only did Val tower over Viviane, but she looked substantially heavier and had a 5.5″ arm reach advantage. Her legs looked significantly longer as well. It should also be noted that she missed weight and came in at 117.5 pounds and I’m sure weighed much more than that the night of the fight while Viviane probably remained at 114. Val probably had a nasty weight cut but she also failed to impress against Joanne Calderwood at 125. While I haven’t totally written her off, she had best impress in her next fight or seriously consider retirement.

    1. I am a huge Val fan so I’m really pulling for her. 115 was a huge cut and I hope this time off has rejuvenated her. She has a great team behind her and has a wealth of experience.
