Valerie Létourneau and Bruna Ellen meet at #Bellator201

In addition to the flyweight title main event between Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Alejandra Lara at Bellator 201, Valerie Letourneau is set to take on Bruna Ellen in a bout that likely carries title implications.

Former UFC strawweight title challenger Valerie Letourneau (9-6) made a successful Bellator debut in December, picking up a dominant unanimous decision win over Kate Jackson. “Trouble” is one of Bellator’s highest-profile WMMA singings and will look to secure a title shot with a win over Ellen.

21-year-old Bruna Ellen (4-1) made her Bellator debut at Bellator 159 in 2016. She currently rides a two-fight win streak, her most recent victory being a hard-fought split-decision victory over Veta Arteaga in August. The sole loss of Ellen’s is a decision loss to Jessica Middleton in her promotional debut.

  1. Weird matchup. My guess is Bellator decision makers have decided that if Anastasia Yankova makes weight for her fight against Kate Jackson and gets a victory, then she is next in line for a Bellator Women’s Flyweight title shot against Ilima MacFarlane and if Valerie Letourneau beats Bruna Ellen she will probably fight against Ruthless Rebecca Ruth on a Bellator Canadian card provided Ruthless Rebecca Ruth beats Lena Ovchynnikova. Of course, I have no idea what Bellator is doing under the Scott Coker regime. His regime has shelved Bobby Lashley since 2016 and purposefully omitted Bobby Lashley and Cheick Kongo from that FARCE of a Bellator Heavyweight Tournament.

    1. My bad, I meant Ruthless Rebecca Ruth vs Juliana Velasquez, not Ruthless Rebecca Ruth vs Lena Ovchynnikova. Ruthless Rebecca Ruth already beat Lena Ovchynnikova in her Bellator debut.
