Valentina Shevchenko is unsure if Nicco Montano will ever fight again after failing to defend the UFC flyweight title and ultimately having it stripped earlier this month after withdrawing from what would have been her first title defense.
Shevchenko (15-3) was set to challenge Montano for the belt earlier this month, however the bout was cancelled on the day of weigh-ins after Montano withdrew due to health concerns. Montano was subsequently stripped off the belt and Shevchenko will instead face Joanna Jędrzejczyk for the vacant title at UFC 231 on December 8 in Toronto, Canada.
“The Bullet” is unsure what happens next with former champ, Nicco Montano, and believes there is a chance she may never compete in MMA again.
“I’m not even sure that she will ever come back to fight,” Shevchenko told MMAjunkie Radio. “People have their limits with their feelings. They never go over this feeling. Maybe it was the most for her, and she will be happy for the rest of her days. She already did it (become UFC champion). I’m not sure she will ever go back and fight anywhere. Just anywhere in general.”
