Valentina Shevchenko: ‘Nicco Montano has had enough time to recover from injury. I think we’re ready to do it.’

There is only one woman who Valentina Shevchenko wants to fight next and that’s UFC flyweight champion Nicco Montano.

Shevchenko wants Nicco Montano next.

Shevchenko (15-3) made her 125-pound debut at last night’s UFC Fight Night 125 event, bloodying and battering Priscila Cachoeira, eventually submitting her in the second-round. The “Bullet” says Nicco Montano is the only person she’s thinking about right now, she believes the champ has had “enough time” to recover from her injury and is ready to claim her first UFC title.

I was ready for this title fight even before this victory. I’ve been ready forever for the title. I’ve wanted it from the beginning to have a fight with Nicco, but I know she’s injured. She has to have a little time to recover. Now, I think it’s enough time. I think we’re ready to do it. It’s one name on my mind right now. It’s Nico. I’m not thinking about anyone else.” Shevchenko told reporters after her big win.

  1. ” … , do you think Shevchenko has what it takes to become UFC flyweight champion??That’s a joke, right, Noah? That’s like asking whether Cyborg had what it takes to become UFC featherweight champion. Nicco can save herself a lot of pain by simply pulling a GDR. She just better hope Mario’s not the ref again.

  2. Aside from the bloodbath what impressed me most about Valentina was how big she looked at flyweight. At bantamweight, she always looked smaller than her opponents. Yeah, she’s ready – she was born ready.
