Even the most casual of MMA fans are aware that Ronda Rousey was once an unstoppable wrecking machine, hailed as “the baddest woman on the planet” by the mainstream media.
She begun her MMA career as a grappler who was submitting her opponents, but when she made it to the UFC she begun finishing fights with strikes, as shown by her victories over Sara McMann, Alexis Davis and Bethe Correia.
However, when Ronda faced Holly Holm, a true elite level striker, the holes in her stand-up game were majorly exposed. The same happened in her next fight when Rousey found herself victim of the punching power of Amanda Nunes, losing the fight in just 48-seconds.
It’s safe to say that fighting against elite-level strikers with good takedown defense make for a very bad match-up stylistically for Rousey. However, prior to the public learning about her weaknesses, Coach Edmond had the UFC bosses believing she was indeed an incredible striker.
