The UFC has signed undefeated Syuri Kondo to the 115-pound strawweight division. She will make her promotional debut at the Saitama Super Arena on 23 September for the UFC Fight Night 117 event.
The 28 year-old made her professional MMA debut for the Pancrase MMA organization back in 2016, and has stayed with them throughout, remaining undefeated with the perfect 5-0 record. She won the vacant strawweight title at Pancrase 287 this past May, dominating Kinberly Novaes for the unanimous decision victory. In kickboxing and Shootboxing she possesses the combined record of 13-1.
Prior to making the move to MMA, Kondo was a professional wrestler who is very well-known in Japan, having performed in the country’s top organizations.
She’ll be battling 19 year-old Chan-Mi Jeon in her UFC debut. Jeon made her UFC debut back in June at UFC Fight Night 110 in Auckland against JJ Aldrich. She lost the fight by way of a unanimous decision.
UFC Fight Night 117 takes place on 23rd September from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
