Ketlen Vieira has revealed that she is more than happy to step in if something goes wrong with this Saturday’s planned UFC bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Germaine de Randamie.
Nunes looks to defend her bantamweight title against Germaine de Randamie on the main card of this Saturday’s UFC 245 pay-per-view event. Meanwhile, on the prelims, Ketlen Vieira takes on Irene Aldana in what is considered by many as a number-one contender bout.
Vieira (10-0-0) says she is prepared just incase something goes wrong with the title fight.
“If (the title fight) falls through, I’m ready (to be a replacement),” Vieira said. “Especially because it won’t be so different from my current opponent, they are both strikers, so it would all remain in the same realm. (If the opportunity arises) I would accept it, for sure.”
Regardless, Vieira knows a win over Aldana on Saturday could very possibly bring her a shot at the belt in 2020.
“I’m the number two fighter in the rankings,” she said. “Amanda will be fighting the number one fighter on the same night. If I win, I don’t see anyone ahead of me. I will become number one. Of course every athlete wants to be the champion, but I’m focused on Aldana. To me, she is the one who has the belt.”
UFC 245 takes place this Saturday December 14, 2019, from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The main card featuring Nunes vs. De Randamie will be aired live on pay-per-view from 10pm EST. The prelims featuring Vieira vs. Aldana will be aired live on ESPN 2 from 8pm EST.
