UFC flyweight Diana Belbita is not happy with Ana Maria Pal for breaking a male contestant’s nose on Survivor: Romania.
Maria Pal (2-3-0) was kicked off Survivor: Romania earlier this week after headbutting fellow contestant, Andrei Ciobanul, breaking his nose in the process. (Click HERE to watch video footage).
Belbita (13-5-0) is 2-0 against Ana Maria Pal in professional MMA competition. The 23-year-old beat Pal for the first time in August 2018, submitting her in the second-round via armbar. In the May 2019 rematch, Belbita was once again victorious via second-round armbar.
Also known as ‘The Warrior Princess’, Belbita is unhappy with her former rival for her actions and hopes people won’t start generalizing about MMA fighters.
“I can not agree with Ana Maria Pal’s actions in Survivor Romania. It is not a typical action for performance fighters and I would like people to avoid generalizing. Ana made this gesture, and she is the only one who should be held accountable for it.” Belbita said.
Belbita previously competed on a similar show in Romania called ‘Exatlon’. ‘The Warrior Princess’ says her own experience, as well as that of fellow fighter’s, should prove that MMA athletes do not usually behave like this.
“I stayed for almost four months in Exatlon and, regardless of the situation, I had no exits like that at any time. Maris Criprian and Ion Surdu are also MMA fighters and have always shown self-control and common sense.” she said.
“I repeat: This is not a typical action for a fighter, Ana Maria is the only one who faces the consequences.” she continued.
