UFC’s Cynthia Calvillo receives six-month suspension for marijuana

UFC strawweight star Cynthia Calvillo has received a six-month suspension as a result of a failed in-competition drug test.

A few days after Calvillo suffered her first professional setback to Carla Esparza at UFC 219, USADA announced that Calvillo had failed a drug test for marijuana metabolites.

Calvillo tested above the limit of 180 ng/ml for Carboxy-THC.

USADA has now confirmed that Calvillo has accepted a six-month sanction. Calvillo’s suspension can be reduced to three months if she successfully completes an USADA-approved drug awareness and management course.

Calvillo’s suspension officially began in December 30, 2017.
