Tonight, at UFC on FOX in Orlando, Fla., an important women’s bantamweight battle took place as Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann met Marion “The Belizean Bruiser” Reneau.
Both fighters met in the middle for the start of the fight. McMann was quick to show her power in a combination. She followed up a nice combo with a body lock takedown using brute strength. From there, McMann dominated the round with top control— consistently utilizing a crucifix to land shots. The ultra tough Reneau lasted to the bell.
In the second round, Reneau is more conscious of the takedown. A few seconds into the second round, Reneau lands a beautiful straight right that brings McMann to her knees! It’s on now! Reneau pours on the aggressive looking for a finish. McMann shoots in on a single leg and floors Reneau, but Marion locks in a picture perfect triangle from the bottom to get the tap!
Marion Reneau def. Sara McMann via second-round triangle submission.
