Tonight at UFC Fight Night 135 in Lincoln, Neb., flyweight hopefuls Joanne Calderwood and Kalindra Faria will look to snap their skids on the UFC Fight Pass Exclusive Prelims.
RECAP: They get right after it at the bell! Kalindra clinches with Joanne and wrenches her to the ground with double underhooks. The majority of the round is spent with Faria on top looking for passes and ground and pound. With about thirty seconds or so left, Calderwood throws up a triangle. It looks tight! She transitions to an arm bar that looks even tighter! Right before the bell sounds, Faria taps! JoJo gets her first career submission win!
THOUGHTS: I was looking forward to a back and forth striking battle between the two but it looks like Faria tried to expose Calderwood’s ground game. Faria had four and a half minutes of top control but Calderwood found an opening. We didnt get to see much of “JoJo 2.0” but she looked more comfortable on the ground, specifically on bottom, than she has in previous bouts.
