Tonight, at UFC Fight Night 129 in Santiago, Chile, the second of three exciting women’s bouts took place in the flyweight division as Andrea “KGB” Lee made her long-awaited UFC debut versus Venezuela’s Veronica Macedo.
RECAP: Fast paced action from the start! Lee has a four-inch reach advantage in this one that she will look to employ. Macedo’s hands are looking wicked fast– she tags Lee once or twice. When the fighters clinch Lee is getting the better of the exchanges by throwing constant knees. At one point in the first round, Macedo landed a nice high kick but Lee recovered well and grounded Veronica with a beautiful takedown. In the second round, there were some really fun grappling exchanges. Both fighters had submission attempts– a rolling kneebar from Macedo and an arm triangle from Lee. The fight goes to the third round, and Andrea’s maintaining a smart game plan. Everytime Macedo gets her combinations going with her hands Lee wraps her up in the clinch and either takes her down or dirty boxes. Both fighters have had their moments throughout the fight and there have been some great scrambles but it looks like the clinch and takedown variety of “KGB” is the difference maker.
