Tonight, the final of three exciting female fights in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, takes place in the strawweight division as top-five ranked contender Tecia “Tiny Tornado” Torres takes on former champion and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
RECAP: A touch of gloves and we aren’t underway! Joanna measuring the distance with her jab but it doesn’t take long for them to end up clinched against the cage. The majority of the first round is clinch work on the cage— JJ looking like she’s getting the better of the exchanges. Her takedown defense holds up versus a quality single leg from TT and we go to the second round. Second round takes place mostly at distance— JJ is landing more but TT has pop in her shots. Nice combos from Joanna, ending everything with kicks. Tecia looking frustrated with the reach. End of round two, things get a little wild! A nice hook from Torres causes Joanna to initiate the clinch. Final round! The two embrace and get right after it. Leg kicks adding up for Poland’s own. Tecia is getting a little more wild and finding some success, but before she can mount anything critical Joanna interrupts her with an overhand right or whipping jab. TT gets a single leg in the last minute of the round but they are immediately up to the feet. The bell sounds and we re going to a judges’ decision!

THOUGHTS: WMMA Rankings scores the bout 30-27 for JJ. The crowd really popped for this fight. Joanna had the sharper tools and Tecia seemed somewhat hesitant. Both fighters are elite and I wouldn’t be surprised if these two met again down the line.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk def. Tecia Torres via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
