The two women competing at UFC Vegas 5 on Saturday have successfully made weight.
In the co-main event of the night, Joanne Calderwood (14-4) faces off with former Invicta champ Jennifer Maia (17-6-1).
Calderwood was scheduled to challenge Valentina Shevchenko for the flyweight belt in August, however, an injury to the champion forced her out of the fight. Calderwood elected not to wait for the match and take the fight versus Maia on short notice– filling in for Viviane Araujo, who withdrew due to a positive COVID-19 test.
Maia had a two-fight win streak snapped by Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 244 in November. She is 2-2 in the UFC since signing with the promotion in 2018.
