UFC on ESPN 7 weigh-in results: Cynthia Calvillo misses weight by over four-pounds

Cynthia Calvillo has failed to make weight for her strawweight co-main event against Marina Rodriguez at the UFC on ESPN 7 event this Saturday.

Calvillo weighed in at 120.5 pounds, 4.5 pounds over the strawweight limit. According to UFC officials, Calvillo will give up 30 percent of her purse to opponent Marina Rodriguez, who successfully weighed in at 115.5 pounds. The UFC is looking to allow the bout to continue at a catchweight, however MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz reports that Rodriguez has not agreed to the terms as of yet.

Strawweight: Cynthia Calvillo (120.5*) vs. Marina Rodriguez (115.5)

UFC on ESPN 7 Early Prelims (5:30pm EST, ESPN+):
Strawweight: Virna Jandiroba (115) vs. Mallory Martin (115.5)

*Missed weight, fined 20-percent of purse

  1. And if Cynthia Calvillo wins, she and the media and certain fans will feel like she needs to move up in the rankings at Strawweight even though she didn’t even make weight to fight at Strawweight.

    1. Hopefully, the UFC makes her go up a weight division instead. Isn’t this the second time she;s missed weight since being there. And 4+ pounds is big time, when you’re talking about such a light weight division. Hope Marina accepts the might and makes an empathetic statement.

    2. I bet they won’t move her up in the rankings this time, though, even if she wins tonight, unless it’s just complete destruction of Rodriguez.
