Saturday afternoon in Newark, New Jersey, Antonina Shevchenko emerged victorious over Lucie Pudilova in an exciting flyweight fight.
Early on, Pudilova looked to tie Shevchenko up in the clinch, however, Shevchenko was able to control the position though and let off solid knees.
Towards the end of the first round, Lucie landed three hard, solid elbows— the last one opening a cut above the eyebrow of Antonina.
In the second round, Shevchenko ended up taking the back of Pudilova during a scramble near the fence. She instantly locked in a clinch and secured a deep rear-naked choke.
The durable Pudilova refused to tap, eventually fading out of consciousness.
After the event, Shevchenko vs. Pudilova was declared Fight of the Night— both Antonina and Lucie earned a bonus of $50,000.
This is the second time Pudilova has earned FOTN. Her bantamweight brawl with Irene Aldana at UFC 228 was an instant classic and Fight of the Year candidate.
