In UFC Glasgow’s co-main event, Scotland’s own Joanne Calderwood met budding contender Cynthia Calvillo in a hard-hitting clash of styles.
It was a back and forth match-up– in the first round Calvillo gained control of Calderwood’s back and hunted for a RNC, but the clock ran out. In the second round, Calderwood landed a solid spinning backfist that almost took Calvillo off her feet. Finally, in the third round, Calvillo took Calderwood down in the last minute of the fight and almost secured a RNC. Calvillo’s handy work was enough to win over the Scottish judges in Calderwood’s hometown.

Cynthia Calvillo def. Joanne Calderwood via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).
Get out kicked the entire fight, but apparently judges don’t count kicks as strikes or in scoring. No, the judges only count two let round takedowns from a fighter who was doing the ole adage of get one takedown and the round is won. This was utter garbage.
